The need of the hour for the Indian textile industry is to develop the technical textile market in India. It is imperative to have precise demand driven research to understand the needs of the market and subsequently cater to the ever-growing demand for technical textile products being witnessed in India, stated Mr. Michael Jänecke, Director Brand Management, Technical Textiles & Textile Processing, Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH, here.

In an exclusive tête-à-tête with Tecoya Trend during the 7th edition of Techtextil India organized by Messe Frankfurt India, which took place in city last week, Mr. Jänecke said: "With commodities you can get to the market faster, but it is highly price sensitive market. You often end up cutting the tree on which you sit.

But in the case of Technical Textiles, you have to invest in R&D and work closely with your partners to identify and target the right product niche. It takes time but once the formula is perfected the dividends reaped are handsome." While elaborating on the performance of the global technical textile industry globally, Mr. Jänecke was delighted to report that the overall market size is growing rapidly, with India being one of the key drivers of that production growth.

The other aspect of the growth of the Technical Textile industry are the newer application avenues which are being found and developed at an ever-increasing rate. More and more countries are incorporating technical textile products as an outright replacement for traditional products as they offer smarter solutions to challenges which were earlier not feasible.

An example of this is of the greenhouse shading used in farming, which is a technical textile solution that has allowed farmers to reap a better harvest for their crops and grow them all year round, added Mr. Jänecke. While talking about what the future holds for the technical textile sector, Mr. Jänecke said "I am highly optimistic about next year and beyond for technical textiles industry.  The current slowdown has only faintly affected the technical textile sector because of the high level of diversification and sophistication of the industry. It is however in the middle of next year that I reckon that the sales start to pick up again and zoom past the previously set benchmarks.

” Giving details of Techtextil exhibition in Germany, Mr. Michael Jänecke informed that bookings for Techtextil and Texprocess 2021, which is to be held in Frankfurt, have recently started and already over 250 registrations for the show have already been received. “The overwhelming response for the show at this early stage reiterates my belief that the next decade belongs to Technical Textiles” concluded Mr. Michael Jänecke.
