(Fibre2Fashion News Desk (DS): President Donald Trump signed an executive order immediately after joining office, directing the US envoy to the United Nations (UN) to submit formal written notification of the US decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
He had issued a similar directive in 2017, announcing that the United States would abandon the Paris Agreement, which is aimed at limiting long-term global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels or, failing that, keeping temperatures at least well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order immediately after joining office, directing the US envoy to the UN to notify the US decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement.
He had issued a similar directive in 2017, announcing that the United States would abandon the Paris Agreement.
The order says the accord is among a number of international agreements that don't reflect US values.
The outgoing Biden administration last month offered a plan to cut US greenhouse gas emissions by more than 60 per cent by 2035. Trump’s order says the Paris accord is among a number of international agreements that don’t reflect US values and “steer American taxpayer dollars to countries that do not require, or merit, financial assistance in the interests of the American people.”
The US ambassador to the UN, in collaboration with the secretary of state and the secretary of treasury, will immediately cease or revoke any purported financial commitment made by the United States under the UN Convention, the executive order said.
Instead of joining a global agreement, “the United States’ successful track record of advancing both economic and environmental objectives should be a model for other countries,’' it said.
