The Cotton Association of India (CAI) released its second estimate of the cotton crop for the season 2013-14. CAI has placed the cotton crop for the season 2013-14 beginning on 1st October 2013 at 375 lakh bales of 170 kgs. each.
It is heartening to note that crop conditions have improved since last month. Therefore, slightly higher crop is estimated for the 2013-14 season compared to the last month. Also, crop conditions are expected to improve further in September especially if the weather remains conducive. This could improve the crop for the 2013-14 cotton season further.
CAI has placed the cotton crop for the season at 356.75 lakh bales. A statement containing the State-wise estimates of Crop and Balance Sheet for the season 2013-14 and the corresponding data for the previous season 2012-13 is given below.
