The Cotton Association of India (CAI) International Cotton Association Ltd. (ICA), Liverpool, this week signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Safe Trading to promote sanctity of contracts, enforcement of Awards amongst their members and provide advice on enforcement issues.

 

 

The MoU was signed by Mr. Mr. Atul S. Ganatra, President, CAI and Mr. Alex Hsu of ICA. Under the MoU, CAI will share intelligence on Indian firms in support of the ICA Business Intelligence Team. Similarly, ICA will also provide such data concerning its members to CAI, as may be required. CAI will carry out amendments to its Bylaws, if any required for the purpose.

 

 

The MoU was signed in the presence of Ms. Roop Rashi, Textile Commissioner, Mr. Pradeep Kumar Agarwal, Ch a i r m a n -cum -Ma n a gi n g Director, Cotton Corporation of India (CCI), Rakesh Mehra, Incoming Chairman of Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI), Mr. Mukesh Tyagi, Senior Vice President of Northern India Textile Mills’ Association (NITMA) and CAI members.

The ICA delegation present during the MoU signing ceremony comprised of ICA Managing Director, Mr. Bill Kingdon, their immediate Past President, Mr. Azeez Syed and Director, Mr. Mohit Shah An important feature of the MoU is that CAI will urge their member to settle any outstanding award that are listed on the CICCA list No candidate member with any outstanding award will be permitted to joint CAI until such time as the award is settled.

ICA Business Intelligence Officer will work closely with and support CAI in these endeavours. With regard to liaison with the government, ICA will liaise through CAI should there be a requirement to contact Indian Government bodies.

ICA will also take CAI into confidence and work together to liaise with the Government bodies of other countries on matters concerning India. On Quality Issues, the MoU stated that CAI Will provide two sets of Indian Standards to ICA Bremen while ICA Will promoted trading in Indian cottons as per CAI Standards.

CAI will also endeavor that one or more of their laboratories participates in the ICA Bremen Certification Continued from Page 1 Col 4 scheme while ICA will promote use of such ICA Bremen certified testing facilities of CAI in India. In the MoU both ICA and CAI have agreed to organize yearly meeting to discuss issues of interest and further ways to increase cooperation between each other.

CAI will assist ICA in organizing training programmes in India on ICA Bylaws and Rules and application in contract. ICA will assist CAI in organizing other specialized trading progammes as mutually agreed between both parties and both parties will work together on organizing an annual visit of a joint delegation to major cotton growth regions in India.

ICA will arrange meeting with other association in India through CAI and the ICA will also support and participate in the conferences being organized by the CAI. (Source: Tecoya Trend)
